Literary Festival and Literary Week Highlight Student Leadership and Promote Literary Culture at School
- Pan American School
Last week's vibrant schedule focused on promoting reading, writing, and students’ creative expression. Literary Week and the Literary Festival engaged all school divisions in activities that encouraged literary involvement and student agency.
In the Elementary School, hallways were filled with original works, performances, and interdisciplinary projects that demonstrated how literature can be experienced in meaningful and practical ways. Students presented books they had written themselves, participated in shared reading activities, and created interactive literary experiences for peers and visitors.
In Middle and High School, highlights included debates, creative writing sessions, and book clubs led by the students themselves. Guest authors, themed workshops, and exhibitions further enriched students’ learning and expanded their literary repertoire, adding depth to classroom discussions.
The Literary Festival, which concluded the week, brought the school community together to celebrate student work. It provided an opportunity for families, teachers, and peers to appreciate the projects developed over the preceding weeks. Students played an active role in curating and leading the activities, reinforcing the school’s commitment to an education that values authorship, critical thinking, and creativity.
The week’s program emphasized literature’s role as a bridge across academic disciplines and as a platform for student authorship. The strong participation of the school community throughout the week highlighted how literature can serve as a cross-curricular language, capable of facilitating dialogue and inspiring creative expression.
